Maintenance Volunteers Required

With the spring Arboretum season just around the corner the Board is busy planning the resources that will be needed for the many maintenance and project activities soon to be underway.

The paths, trails, commemorative trees and new plantings are maintained by the Arboretum volunteers who give so much of their time in order that the public can enjoy this precious resource.

The general maintenance of the grass trails and paths is done on a weekly basis by two teams of volunteers each Tuesday and Wednesday morning. We use two John Deere riding mowers, gas and electric push mowers, trailers and Stihl gas line trimmers.

Each team has designated areas, and a team leader. Most weeks there is a regular routine, and each team shares the tools amongst themselves. However, on occasion, there are special projects or trail development to be completed.

This season we will require several additional people. Operation, equipment and safety training will be provided. Experience is not necessary but general home outdoor maintenance experience is beneficial.

If this sounds interesting, please send an email to [email protected] stating any experience you may have.

Note:  these positions are not suitable for students.
